While we develop our new office space in Mare Street we are using the opportunity to make the most of our window space for connections and communication with our new local community.

Our first project was with Hackney-based education charity, Inspire!, and the local primary school St. John of Jerusalem. As part of Inspire!’s ‘World of Work Week’, we worked with year 6 pupils at St. John of Jerusalem School to talk about the job of an architect. Through our workshops we aimed to show that working together and problem-solving is central to our process, and that we need to always work together as teams.

With them we created an imaginary festival on the area of land next to their school. The children drew their own ‘masterplans’ picturing the space, and then worked in teams to build mini festival pavilions (1:100) to sit on the site, each with different functions.

Assembling the display The work of the students at St. John of Jerusalem Primary School is the first of what we hope will be many displays, to be created in consultation with the local community in Hackney.
