'Battle of the Beams', saw seven of the UK’s leading structural engineering practices pitching their vision for practical engineering solutions to tackle the climate crisis, to an audience of construction professionals.

This was the first of many Fight Clubs, which will see Mechanical Engineers, Cost Consultants, Contractors, Agents, Planners and Architects pitch their ideas to expectant audiences.

Materiality The hottest topic of the evening centred on defining the optimum materiality of the super structure; Lumber, Metal, Stone and Concrete being the protagonists of the discussion.
The debate The final act of the evening, saw the engineer teams grouped together to take questions from the audience. The debate raged for some time, and it was clear there was a great deal of alignment on many issues.
The event Each of the speakers had 5 minutes to pitch their approach to tackling climate change.
